Nicholas Collis – Biography:
As younger son of a late Colonel, 40 Commando Royal Marines, born in deepest Devonshire, Nicholas (aged 3) travelled by ship from Southampton to Singapore to stay with his family for about 4 years.
Upon returning to England, back in south Devon, Nicholas’s prep & secondary education were respectively in Devon and Somerset between 1956 to 1965.
His early business career involved roles with Horlicks Ltd in Slough then with Dunlop Rubber Co in London followed by a year in Crete with Murison Small Ltd., before starting his wine-trade career in 1972.
During his wine career, of over fifty vintages, Nicholas has held various positions involving brand management, marketing, sales and promotional activity with:
Gonzalez Byass UK Ltd. 1972 to 1984.
Michael Druitt Wines Ltd. 1984 to 1992.
Cornwall Wine Merchants (Vinoceros agency division) 1992 to 1994.
The Pewsey Vale Wine Company 1994 to 2015.
Wines and Tours Ltd. 2011 to 2023.
Lots of Bottles Wine Consultancy 2015 to date.
His computer skills include Windows operating system, word processing, excel spreadsheets and database creation. Some inputs with Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and numerous others.
Nicholas is married and his interests involve DIY, dog walking, fly fishing, some gardening, languages, guitar music, swimming, photography, overseas assignments and fun on a daily basis.
